Friedens, PA (November 15, 2005). Two hundred Angus breeders from 17 different states across the country recently attended the fifth annual Angus Production Sale that took place on November 12, 2005 at ErReR Hill Farms in Lincoln Township. The auction, one of its only types in Somerset County, PA, featured Black Angus females from one of the oldest ongoing Angus operations in the Keystone State.
Whitestone Farm, a well-known Angus breeder in Aldie, Virginia, took home several heifers including the top selling female, EHF ABVA Blackcap N09 521, who sold for $19,500. The sale was auctioneered by Col. Steve Dorran of Canada, and by the end of the afternoon, 110 head consisting of 60 lots were sold.
Mr. Sidney W. Riggs, owner of ErReR Hill Farms, is a well-known and respected breeder. He has been raising Angus cattle for over 40 years and currently has 16 bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives. His registered and accredited Black Angus herd of cattle currently consists of approximately 120 bulls, 220 cows, and 150 replacement heifers. Next April, ErReR Hill Farms will host their seventh annual Performance Tested Angus Bull and Commercial Female Sale.
