8th Annual Angus Auction Draws Over 100 Breeders to Somerset County
Friedens, PA (May 3, 2007). Despite rainy conditions at the sale, over 100 Angus breeders attended ErReR Hill Farms’ 8th Annual Performance Tested Angus Bull and Commercial Female Sale on April 28, 2007 in Lincoln Township. The auction, the only Angus sale of its type in Somerset County, featured performance tested Black Angus bulls and commercial females from one of the oldest ongoing Angus operations in the Keystone State.
The sale was auctioneered by Reed Luce and by the end of the afternoon, 31 bulls and 35 heifers had been sold and were going to as far away as Kentucky. ErReR Hill Farms currently has 18 bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives and the farm’s registered and accredited Angus herd of cattle consists of approximately 25 bulls, 200 cows and 75 replacement heifers. It was also home to Bushwacker and New Frontier, the 5th most used Angus bulls in the United States in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
Upcoming events at the farm include the Pennsylvania Finest Female Sale on June 9th, the farm’s 50th Anniversary Field Day on August 4th and the 7th Annual Female Sale on November 10, 2007. The farm is owned by brothers, Bill and Dan Riggs and is managed by their cousin, Bob Hay
