Riggs Hosts 7th Annual Angus Sale

Friedens, PA (May 3, 2006). ErReR Hill Farms, owned by Sidney Riggs and sons Bill and Dan, hosted its seventh annual Performance Tested Angus Bull and Commercial Female Sale on April 29, 2006 in Lincoln Township. Approximately 200 Angus breeders from as far as away as Georgia attended the sale.

The auction, the only Angus sale of its type in Somerset County, PA, featured performance tested Black Angus bulls, cows, and commercial bred females from one of the oldest ongoing Angus operations in the Keystone State. The sale was auctioneered by Reed Luce and by the end of the afternoon, 43 bulls, 24 heifers, and 14 cows and calves had been sold. The next event at the farm will be the sixth annual Production Sale to be held on November 11, 2006.

ErReR Hill Farms currently has19 bulls leased to AI stud cooperatives. It was also home to Bushwacker, the 5th most used Angus bull in the United States in 2004. The farm's registered and accredited Angus herd of cattle currently consists of approximately 30 bulls, 250 cows, and 60 replacement heifers.

Fast approaching half a century as an Angus breeder, Sidney Riggs has enjoyed the challenges of breeding ostriches, llamas, and miniature horses in addition to his Angus herd. Sidney is also CEO of Riggs Industries, a multi-faceted company, that currently operates Somerset Steel Erection, Lincoln Contracting & Equipment, Somerset Welding & Steel (J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers, Lincoln Supply, J&J Truck Equipment) and the James A. Redding Company.
